Induction therapy is the first phase of treatment for leukemia. The goal of induction therapy is to achieve remission, which means that all cancer cells are eliminated from the body. remission can be partial or complete. In some cases, induction therapy may be followed by the second phase of treatment, called consolidation therapy, which is designed to eliminate any remaining cancer cells.
